The following FAQs are commonly asked by students interested in applying for the forklift training course in Sydney.

Do I need any prerequisites to undertake my Forklift License?
There are not many requirements but you are required to be at least 18 year old and have a basic understanding of written and spoken English.

Trainees have to take a theory test before getting the 60 days license. When a trainee passes the forklift test, he/she will be required to have at least 100 points of ID to apply for a forklift license.

What do you mean by LF or LO?

LF is a type of forklift license which allows you to operate any forklift except for those forklifts classified LO.

LO is a type of forklift license which allows you to operate on Order Picker/Stock Picker.

However, the LO type license is the most common type of licence. This licence is most common in warehouses.

What is the minimum age to get a license to operate forklift?

The minimum age is 18. However, in exceptional circumstances, you may be able to apply to the governing body for an exemption. Although available, this is rarely granted.

What if I have a forklift license from overseas? Do I still need a license from NSW?

Yes, you have to get a license from NSW because the international license is not recognized in NSW. Therefore you have to be tested again in order to apply a forklift license here in NSW. This may require refresher training or something similar.

If my boss asks me to operate a forklift, but I don’t have a licence, can I still operate it?

Yes, you can. However, there is one strict condition.  You can operate the forklift ONLY under the supervision of the person who holds a current NSW forklift licence all the times.

If you are unsupervised, then you are breaking the law.

How long is the course?

Is there any forklift training centers where I live?

As you may know, there are many forklift training centres in and around Sydney. Enter our form to find the nearest training center around your location.

Can you guys come over to my working place and train my staff?

We offer an onsite training course and licence testing where we come to your place and train your staff. However, before we do so, we need to make sure you have the right facilities and requirements to carry onsite staff training.

Do I need refresher course before taking my license?

It is not always compulsory to do the refresher course but you may have to take that course if required in some cases.

Remember. You have to pass both written and practical test to obtain a forklift licence. And sometimes, a trainer can quickly correct any bad habits you may have picked up over time.

Do you have certified assessors?

Yes. All the assessors we have available are certified and registered forklift training centers. All assessors have many years of training students and operating forklifts.

Are there any special clothes that I should wear before I come to the training?

You must wear something comfortable when you come to the training site. Make sure you always wear closed shoes. This is for safety. You are not allowed to wear open shoes.
